Personal Health

The added demands of teaching a combination class can wear out even the most resolute teachers. It is important to take care of yourself so that you can continue to be your personal best.

  • It’s okay to say, “No.”
Sometimes life can be hectic. Remember that you can’t and don’t have to do it all.

  • Make downtime
Be with your family. Relax. Read a book. Watch a movie. Play a video game. Do whatever gives you a momentary escape.

  • Sleep
At least 7 hours, but 8 if you can get them.

  • Exercise
Even 20 minutes a day is enough to refresh your mind and body.

  • Eat well
We all know it! Eat your veggies. Drink water. And don’t forget to...

  • Breathe
No students are allowed in my classroom for the five minutes before the first bell rings. Sometimes, I just take a moment to close my eyes and breathe. Ahhh… oxygen.
